Our specialist bulk handling terminal is situated in the Port of Durban, South Africa. The facility was first equipped with steam-driven mechanical handling equipment to offload rail wagons and load ships for bunkering steam - fired vessels as well as loading coal for exports in 1907.

Nowadays, the terminal specialises in the soft handling of all bulk commodities, particularly the loading of manganese, coal and anthracite and the offloading of coke.

Over 3 million tons of free flowing or semi-free flowing bulk commodities are handled per year, in vessels of handysize up to panamax, the largest single export being 52 000 tons of coal.

The planning of vessels and trains to arrive at the terminal is the single most important activity to ensure effective plant utilisation.
